The Pittsburgh Steelers made some roster moves this morning, signing linebacker Jayrone Elliott and long snapper Liam McCullough. In order to make room for the acquisitions, they released linebacker Leo Lewis and injured wide receiver Anthony Johnson.
Elliott has been in the league for four years and previously signed with the Steelers during the 2019 training camp. He was in and out of the organization through November of last year, playing only five games with the team. Elliott had a mildly productive preseason with the team, recording six tackles, a sack, and one fumble recovery (which he subsequently returned for an 88-yard touchdown).
McCullough is a fresh face in the organization. As an undrafted rookie from Ohio State, he played all but one game during his time with the Buckeyes. He had a bright college career, and was a finalist for the Patrick Mannelly award (given to the top long snapper in the country).
The signings come as insurance after linebacker Bud Dupree and long snapper Kam Canaday were both reported to have been banged up at training camp.
What are your thoughts on the signings? How do you feel training camp is going so far? Let us know in the comments below.
