The Pittsburgh Steelers have released running back, full back Trey Edmunds according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Edmunds has spent the past four seasons with the team. The release comes at an odd time as Pittsburgh will report to training camp tomorrow to begin their preseason preparation.

Edmunds is the older brother of starting safety and former first round pick Terrell Edmunds. Edmunds has bounced around the Steelers practice squad for the past few seasons. Even being released at different points and re-signed. Edmunds hasn't had a carry since the 2019 season when he rushed the ball 22 times for 92 yards.
Last season Edmunds played in two games for Pittsburgh. In 2020 he played in four. During the 2019 he was a contributor on special teams registering 6 tackles in 11 games.
With Edmunds release the Steelers have an open spot on their roster.
