The Pittsburgh Steelers have a lot to be excited about when it comes to the 2026 season. There is nearly an entire new coaching staff running the show for the franchise, and there is a ton of new talent on the roster to be optimistic about. The offense has more weapons than it has had in recent seasons, and it is fair to assume that the offensive line might take another step forward. The defense also continues to draft young talent that may impress, which is something that fans have been clamoring for on that side of the ball.

The Steelers are in a much better place on paper than the organization was at this point in 2025. There are fewer questions on the roster, and there is a lot of healthy competition heading into training camp. Pittsburgh's 10-man draft class has a lot to do with the excitement as players like Max Iheanachor, Germie Bernard, and Drew Allar highlight the class, but there are other players that were drafted in April that are flying under the radar.
Cornerback Daylen Everette was making noise throughout the offseason, and he has received a little bit of hype in the media. He was the topic of discussion on 93.7 The Fan on Monday morning, and host Adam Crowley revealed what he heard about the rookie from someone within the organization.
"They love him by the way," Crowley said. "I was told by somebody in there that he may have had, in their opinion, the most impressive offseason among all of the rookies."
Crowley seems to have gotten this message from someone within the building for the Steelers, and it should bring some excitement to the fan base. Everette was drafted in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Steelers, but there has not been nearly as much hype built up around him.

Steelers' Daylen Everette speaks with the media while at the NFL Scouting Combine during the 2026 offseason.
Pittsburgh had three third-round picks in 2026, and Everette was the second of those three. He was drafted in between Allar and Gennings Dunker. The cornerback was certainly overlooked initially as he was drafted after a quarterback and before a gritty offensive lineman with a bright red mullet. Fans didn't pay much mind to Everette, but it seems to be that he might be contributing early on.
Everette will likely contribute on special teams, and he will also be competing for the third cornerback spot on the outside. Pittsburgh has two clear starters in Joey Porter Jr. and Jamel Dean, but the spot behind them on the outside could be up in the air. Asante Samuel Jr. is likely the other top name to be considered for the job. Samuel has a higher salary and could be considered a trade or cut candidate, so if the two are close the edge might go to Everette.
Steelers Could Move Daylen Everette Around
Everette has a ton of playing experience from his time at Georgia, and he played on the outside and in the slot. If some injuries hit the lineup for the Steelers, Everette should be able to step up and take over wherever is needed. He played in 55 games at the college level, and he recorded five interceptions to go along with 150 total tackles. He did all of this while playing in big games in the SEC. He won a National Championship at the end of the 2022 season, and he played in a ton of high-stakes games over his four years at the school.

Everette is battle-tested from his time playing in college, and he should be fairly ready to make a seamless transition to the pros. He is a player to watch for the Steelers as the season grows closer.
