The Pittsburgh Steelers arguably have the most flexibility of any team due to the front office possessing 12 overall selections in the 2026 NFL Draft. General Manager Omar Khan is going to have the option of bringing in an incredible amount of depth, but there's also a real chance that the organization gets involved with some trades as well. Taking, and then retaining, a dozen rookies isn't very feasible, especially because only 53 guys end up making the roster. Regardless, fixing holes and grabbing some talent is very much in play for the franchise.

Fans are aware that the Steelers have some legitimate interest in interior offensive linemen. This makes sense because of the left guard situation. Isaac Seumalo decided to leave in free agency, which created a significant gap. Khan and co. have been known to build in the trenches, so that is expected again, and maybe even in the first round.
However, Broderick Jones' status remains a little bit up in the air. He suffered a bad neck injury during the 2025 campaign while playing against the Chicago Bears. It appeared as if he was starting to come along, as he attended the team's voluntary workouts recently, but unfortunate news emerged on Monday morning that could change everything for the team.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Monday morning about the Steelers and mentioned that the franchise has plenty of needs with the draft coming to the Steel City.
“Heading into this week's draft, host-city Pittsburgh has 12 picks, more than any other team,” Scheftet wrote. “Yet the Steelers also have their share of unresolved issues.”
In a rather shocking twist, he broke the news that Jones had a setback and now his entire season could quite possibly be in question. This is not a great update just days before the big event begins.
"For starters, left tackle Broderick Jones had a setback to the neck injury he sustained last season, and is scheduled to be examined this week to determine whether he will be ready for training camp and/or the start of the season, per league sources," Schefter noted. "That could influence whether Pittsburgh needs to find a new left tackle during the first two days of the draft."
Suddenly, the Steelers might be right back where they started on the line when Khan took over. Jones was his first ever draft selection, and this scary neck situations seems to have just gotten more unfavorable.

The main concern needs to be for Jones' long-term health; however, Pittsburgh still has an operation to run. A left tackle just quickly became a serious need, despite the emergence and strong play from Dylan Cook. The team has been connected to plenty of positions throughout the pre-draft process, so this adds another wrinkle to that situation.
The calmness and poise Dylan Cook plays with is so impressive. So much awareness for a guy in only his 2nd start. This rep exemplifies this. There are 10yr vets who don’t play with this level of wherewithal. So damn good. #HereWeGo pic.twitter.com/80klTHx8PK

Time will tell what happens here, but it certainly seems as if the Steelers are very worried about Jones' future. A setback to a neck injury is never something that can be taken lightly.

Steelers Have The Picks To Make A Move
If Pittsburgh shies away from taking a tackle in round one, there are going to be several opportunities to do so on Day 2. With four total picks in rounds two and three, Khan can move up in one, or both, rounds in order to get a top tackle. There is possibly going to be a run at the position early, however, which could ultimately change how the Steelers operate. This is now another new development that could alter the front office's plans.
