The Pittsburgh Steelers have failed to escape headlines throughout the 2026 offseason. An aggressive free agency period is one of the main reasons why, but the team also continues to wait for Aaron Rodgers to make a decision regarding his future. In addition to what has been going on with the front office, the city is preparing to host the 2026 NFL Draft. The team will be looking to bolster several different areas of the depth chart which include, but are not limited to, the wide receiver, offensive line, safety and linebacker rooms. There is a lot of work to be done for General Manager Omar Khan.

Even if Rodgers comes back to play for another year in Pittsburgh, the idea of the franchise selecting a quarterback at some point cannot be disregarded, specifically because the organization currently has 12 selections to play with. While this will likely change, Khan and co. are going to do their due diligence on the class in case there is someone who stands out with any particular pick.

Top 30 visits are a good way to gauge what decision-makers are thinking when it comes to some of the better prospects coming out of college. During the Mike Tomlin era, the individuals who came to the Steel City for one often saw their chances of being taken by the Steelers skyrocket. This will be something to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

Getting to know specific guys on a more personal level is important for front offices, especially if that person could be joining the locker room in the near future. On Tuesday evening, it was reported by Bo Marchionte of college2pro that Pittsburgh is bringing in perhaps the most fascinating player of them all.

"Per source: Arkansas QB Taylen Green is set for Top 30 visits with the #Steelers  #Cowboys  #Dolphins and #Ravens as he continues to draw interest across the league after tremendous NFL Combine," Marchionte posted on X.

Taylen Green has blazing speed and has had many discussing about his rare athletic capabilities. There have been talks of him transitioning from quarterback to wide receiver, but he remains very focused on being under center at the professional level. He ran a 4.36 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, signaling that he can easily run right past opposing defenders when given the chance.

Quarterback Taylen Green hurdles over a defender during his time as an Arkansas Razorback.

The former Arkansas Razorback has more than just a little bit of experience. He played in 53 collegiate games, so he is not considered to be inexperienced such as someone like Ty Simpson. Additionally, he rushed for 35 touchdowns in college, while adding 2,405 yards on the ground. He has the toolbox to develop in the NFL, and the Steelers seem to have legitimate interest.

Green recently told Robert Griffin III on the Outta Pocket podcast that he has no interest in switching positions, and even compared himself to Lamar Jackson in the process.

"Just like Lamar said, 'I’m a quarterback.' Draft me as a quarterback. I’ve always been a quarterback. Going into recruiting, people wanted me for different positions, I told them, 'No, I’m a quarterback. I’m not going to your school.' I just always had that chip on my shoulder to prove them wrong. If Lamar did it at the next level and won MVPs... We had the same college coach so he definitely prepared me for the next level."

Time will tell, but it appears, for now, that Green is going to be drafted as a signal-caller. His skill set could lead to a team reaching for him, but he projects as a fourth- or fifth-round selection. Pittsburgh is now a team to keep an eye on.

Steelers Have Yet To Host A Top QB Prospect For A Top 30 Visit

Someone like Simpson hasn't been to the Steel City just yet for a Top 30 visit. If Pittsburgh has interest in him, the organization sure does have a funny way of showing it. Khan welcoming prospects such as Carson Beck and Green hint at the fact that the front office really has no desire to take a quarterback high up in the 2026 NFL Draft.
