The Pittsburgh Steelers are not a team that the league makes travel overseas often, but it does happen. The franchise hosted a game in Dublin, Ireland, during the 2025 season, and the event was seen as a massive success as Pittsburgh returned to the states with a victory. That game was pursued by the organization itself, as hosting a game in Ireland has been a long-time goal of the organization. However, Pittsburgh may need to prepare to travel internationally once again in 2026, as there seems to be a chance that the NFL could schedule them for a game in London.

The NFL has been increasing its presence throughout the world over the years, and there has been a significant jump in international games in recent years. The league is preparing to play nine international games during the 2026 season, with the contests spanning across four different continents and seven different countries. The farthest journey will be to Melbourne, Australia, where it has already been announced that the San Francisco 49ers will be playing the Los Angeles Rams. It was also announced on Wednesday that the Jacksonville Jaguars will be playing two games in London.

Further details of these two games for the Jaguars have not been provided, but they will be staying in London for two weeks straight to play two games. It is fair to assume that the league will designate one game as a home game for Jacksonville, and the other will be a road game. That way the franchise is not losing two home games. Pittsburgh is playing at Jacksonville in 2026, which makes the Steelers a candidate to take on the Jaguars in London.

There is no guarantee that the games for Jacksonville will be split, but they should be. The Minnesota Vikings played two games internationally during the 2025 season and both games were designated as road games, but the league should even that out this time around.
The Steelers have played in London once before, and that happened back during the 2013 season when Pittsburgh lost to Minnesota. It was an ugly game for the franchise, and former players have come out and said that the team didn't take the proper precautions when it comes to jet lag and traveling to London ahead of time.
The Black and Gold got their revenge on Minnesota during the 2025 season as Pittsburgh hosted the Vikings in Dublin, Ireland and won the game by a final score of 24-21. Pittsburgh had a lead for most of the game, but the Vikings began to come back a little bit. It was a great game for a casual fan, but Pittsburgh fans were on the edge of their seats as the clock wound down.

Steelers Are An Asset To The NFL
Pittsburgh's appearance in Dublin was a great success for the NFL, and the league should want to display one of its most storied franchises on the international stage. The Steelers have one of the best fan bases in the NFL, and it is international. Scheduling Pittsburgh to play in these overseas games is a great idea for the league as the NFL has shown a clear desire to grow the game and work more of these contests into the schedule. There has even been talks of the league attempting to host a Super Bowl on the international stage.
