"Shut The H*ll Up": Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Fires Back At Media After Crazy Week In Pittsburgh

The entire locker room for the Pittsburgh Steelers heard how the head coach was taking fire all throughout the week, and the group showed up for him in Week 14. The team went up against the division-leading Baltimore Ravens on the road and silenced them with a mostly-convincing 27-22 victory. Head Coach Mike Tomlin got some redemption after fans demanded that he should be fired, but it might not enough to make stop questioning if he should be let go for a new leader or not. For now, though, he gets his victory lap and the lead in the AFC North.

The players all heard the chants as well, and they responded by defending their head coach. There was no way to block out the fact that fans, media, and even former players were talking about how Tomlin and the Steelers would benefit from splitting up and going their separate ways. It seemed like no one in the organization took kindly to that being a talking point all throughout the week.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was asked about what a win like that meant after a week of everyone demanding that Tomlin moves on during his postgame press conference. He fired off a shot at the media to explain how he felt.

"It means maybe you guys [the media] will shut the h*ll up for a week," Rodgers retorted.

Rodgers has never been a fan of the media, and he usually does not miss a chance to tell them off. This was a perfect question for him to tell them how he really felt, and he did not let that go quietly. A week of no major people or networks calling for Tomlin to be fired or to simply just leave the team will be a very welcomed at practice. However, all that anger building up may have fueled the Steelers in the crucial divisional game to begin December.

Before the practice week started, the Steelers clearly may have been unmotivated, unprepared, and unable to do almost anything right. Rodgers was talking about how the previous practice sessions [in Week 13] were "poor," and it showed on the game film as the defense gave up 249 rushing yards, with most of them coming on the same zone read plays. It was an awful performance all around, and the fans let them know how angry they truly were.

Sometimes, that's exactly what needs to happen to get back on track. There is still a ton of respect in the locker room for Tomlin, and that led to what was described as an incredible week of practice. the Steelers got a big bounce-back win, and they kept completing deep passes. There are still many things that need to be cleaned up, but this was a much-needed breath of fresh air after a week of nothing but negativity and hatred.

The key here is that the Steelers can't get too comfortable. Once that happens, they will fall back right into the same traps they did before, and fans will be chanting "Fire Tomlin" again.

If they have to keep playing those clips of those chants and former players demanding change to make them play well, then it should be blasted into the speakers at the practice fields. They need to keep feeding off of that negativity so they can keep trying to prove everyone wrong like they successfully did in Baltimore.

Steelers Fans Will Remain Restless Despite Win

Taking the division lead at 7-6 may silence the chants for now, but it won't make the fans happy. What they want is a playoff victory. If that happens, then Tomlin will regain the respect of many that have recently turned on him. If it doesn't happen, then everyone will be waiting for another terrible home performance so that they can boo him off the field and continue with those chants.
