The Pittsburgh Steelers have their entire fan base on edge as the quarterback situation for the organization has not gotten any better. It is bad enough the team will be completely turning the room over for the second season in a row, but it is even worse that they are a week away from the 2025 NFL Draft and still don't have a reliable starting quarterback lined up. Many fans believed that a decision would be made by Aaron Rodgers at this point, and as each day passes, it seems more and more likely that he does not sign in the Steel City.

Pittsburgh should be looking for a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft regardless of what Rodgers decides to do. The organization needs to figure out the future of the position, and it needs to take a swing on a quarterback. There is a chance that Shedeur Sanders or Jaxson Dart will be available when Pittsburgh is picking at 21, but whether or not the team would spend a premium pick on either player remains unforeseen. Team insider Mike DeFabo spoke about another quarterback in Jalen Milroe during a recent article for The Athletic, where he shared that there is no chance Pittsburgh selects the former Alabama quarterback.
"For whatever reason, Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has generated a lot of buzz in Pittsburgh," DeFabo wrote. "Colin Cowherd claimed that an NFL executive told him the Steelers 'really like' the mobile quarterback and said, 'If (at) the 21st pick, Milroe's not taken, Pittsburgh is leaning now and taking him.' Iโm hearing the exact opposite. In fact, I'm going to make a bold prediction that if Milroe is sitting there in the third round, the Steelers still won't draft him."
Milroe is interesting due to the athlete that he is. He is typically the best athlete on any field at any given time, and his physical traits fit the mold of a successful quarterback in today's NFL. However, there have been some issues with his accuracy and reading defenses. He is a raw prospect, which is why it was stunning to see him get invited to the 2025 NFL Draft for the first round. It is never a good look for the league to have a draft-attendee slide down the board and not get picked, which is why the move to invite Milroe was odd.

Fans immediately started connecting the dots and believing that Pittsburgh might pick him with the 21st overall selection, but that is extremely unlikely. DeFabo doesn't even believe the organization would consider picking him at 83rd overall, which is roughly where he is mocked to go.
Some quarterback-needy team is going to reach for Milroe, but it is hard to see that happening on the first night of the event. The most logical destination for Milroe in the first round is to the Los Angeles Rams at 26th overall. His raw athleticism just makes sense in a Sean McVay led offense, and the organization needs to start planning for life after Matthew Stafford.

Steelers Could Use Jalen Milroe In Their Offense
Pittsburgh is a team that is devoted to running the football, but over the last several seasons, the personnel has not been able to do it effectively. Milroe's legs at the quarterback position could change that, but all the negative attributes make it nearly impossible. The Steelers have not shown any sort of ability to develop a quarterback in recent years, and that is subject to change. While seeing Milroe suit up in the black and gold would be fun, it is a pipe dream for Steelers fans. If Milroe begins to fall into the fourth round, that is when it might be acceptable to select him.
